The European Commission has opened the call process for the SME Instrument, a line of support to SME of Horizon 2020. This program offers € 2.8 billion to finance small and medium enterprises, between 2014 and 2020, specifically innovative business ideas. Of this amount, 90 million will be allocated to the Information and Communication Technologies, in 2014 and 2015.
The SME Instrument seeks to support finance the early stages of SMEs, research and innovation, as well as accelerating the use of innovations. The selected projects must represent a benefit for businesses in Europe.
The program is structured in 3 phases, including the different stages of the innovation cycle: 1) technical feasibility and market potential, with 50 thousand euros for 6 months; 2) R&I and demonstration activities, with 2.5 million euros for 12 to 24 months; and 3) commercialization, with access to private capital.
SMEs interested may send their proposals in any of the phases. More information: ec.europa.eu.
