Data released by the National Statistical Institute of Portugal indicates a slight increase in October of consumer confidence index, which reached “the highest level since May 2002, prolonging the sharp upward trend since early 2013” . Additionally, this indicator “increased in the Processing Industry, in the Construction Industry, and Trade”. On the other hand, the economic sentiment indicator “leveled for the second month in the highest value since July 2008”, the institute informed.

Earlier, in September, the turnover index in the Retail Trade recorded “a homologue variation of 2.0%”. Similarly, in the third quarter, “sales at retail rose 1.5% in homologue terms”.
