During the third quarter of 2014, the Portuguese GDP registered an increase of 1.1% in volume, in homologous terms. The National Institute of Statistics revealed that domestic demand was responsible for “a positive contribution more intense for the homologous variation of GDP, from 1.7 percentage points (pp) in the 2nd quarter of 2014 to 1.9 pp in the 3rd quarter, reflecting mainly in the evolution of Household Final Consumption Expenditure”.

GDP had already presented a growing of 0.9% in the second quarter, so the comparative increase between the two periods was set at 0.3% in real terms, “reflecting the positive contribution of domestic demand”.
