The Portuguese government offers to startups the “Strategic Program for Entrepreneurship and Innovation” (+e+i). As indicated on its website, it “is open to civil society (…) program seeks a more entrepreneurial society, a broad base of innovative companies with strong export component, a country network and included in international networks entrepreneurship, knowledge and innovation, and results-oriented”.
This program includes several incentives, among which is the “Ignition Program”, which provides seed capital for innovative technology-based projects, through funds of 20 million euros that are administered by Portugal Ventures.
Similarly, for companies that are under development, the program offers the “Qualified Entrepreneurship” support , which funds projects “that contribute to increasing the qualification of human resources”, as well as internationalization, tourism and production of new goods and services.
