In 2015 could be registered new records in tourism in Portugal. The Portuguese National Institute of Statistics pointed a “homologous growth of 13.4%” on stays during the month of January this year. “The profits increased markedly (+ 18.1% for total profits and + 17.9% for room), slightly above the verified in the previous month (+ 16.8%, +18.7 %)”, the INE said.

The increase was driven by residents (17.8%); however, the stay of foreigners also rose 11.2%. The UK market saw an increase of 4%; and German of 18.9%.

The Azores and Alentejo regions received more stays, 34.1% and 25.6%, respectively. Lisbon and the northern and central areas also showed significant increases.
